When someone tells you not to think of a pink elephant, what is the first thing you think of?
That is the job.
We want your print, your sign, your shirt and your design to sit in someone's head exactly like that. So good that even the shop across the street cannot get you out of their mind.
The founder was born and raised here, and so was the business. Charlotte is not a market we expanded into — it is where we are from. This was built from the ground up, one job at a time, for people down the road.
Charlotte is an art city, and you can see it driving. Murals down the side of a building. Color somebody chose on purpose. None of that came from a plan — it came from people who loved what they did enough to turn a building into something that says so.
Every business on this street is a who, not a what. They build their thread into the fabric of this city. That is who we make signs for.
That shows up in small ways. We deliver it ourselves. We will come out and put it up. If something is wrong you are talking to the person whose name is on it, not a ticket number in another time zone.
The design comes first here. The printing is how it gets out into the world.
So you can walk in with half an idea. You will get asked who you are trying to reach, where it is going and how far back people will be standing when they read it — and then you will get something built to answer that.

There is a difference between designing for Charlotte and being from Charlotte. We know which corners people actually look at and which roads they are moving too fast to read. We know what was in your building before you were, and what the block looked like when it was full.
We have watched what works on this street and what quietly stopped working, and we paid attention to why. Not to talk about anybody — to know the ground.
That is not a design skill. It is just knowing where you are. But it changes what we tell you: the size, the height, which side of the glass, how many words, and whether the thing you are picturing is going to land with the people who actually drive past it.

Acquired Taste Studios is a branding studio, a design studio and a digital design studio. Print is in house, and that is on purpose — what gets designed here gets made here, so the color, the weight and the spacing hold all the way from the screen to the thing standing on the sidewalk.
